Breaks

Breaks allow you to block out time slots on an event to prevent people from booking them, such as a staff member who can't stay for the whole event.

When a time slot is marked as a break, the time slot appears differently for attendees and staff making a booking:

  • Attendees: Time slots marked as a break will appear as unavailable to attendees.
  • Staff: Time slots will be marked as available to book, but will be shown a warning that the time slot has been marked as a break.

Breaks can be managed by Event Managers and Administrators for all staff and are available on events with bookings enabled.

Staff can also manage their own breaks if your school or organization allows it.

Setting breaks

  1. Click on Breaks in the main menu.
  2. Choose the date you'd like to manage.
  3. Click on a time slot to toggle it between available and blocked.

Changes to breaks take immediate effect. Only time slots without a booking can be toggled. If you need to set a break on a time slot with a booking, you'll need to cancel the booking first.

Limiting staff breaks

Event ManagersAdministrators

If your school or organization allows staff to set their own breaks, you can limit the number of breaks they can set themselves on a per-event basis. This can be useful to prevent staff blocking out large chunks of times and not participating in the event.

Use the Limit Staff Breaks option to set the total number of breaks for each date. To remove the limit, set this to 0.

If the staff member tries to set breaks beyond the limit, they'll be presented with an error and will need an Event Manager or Administrator to make the change for them.

Bulk toggling time slots

Event ManagersAdministrators

If you need to mark a time slot as available or unavailable for all staff, use the Bulk Toggle Slot to make the change.

This will not affect any existing bookings for the chosen time slot.
